Educational visits to Schools in Wales and England
The Welsh Bird of Prey Centre has been visiting schools for over 20 years, visiting over 300 schools every year. Our educational school visits are always very popular and we are very proud of the reputation we have built up.
We bring along seven birds - a selection of owls, hawks and falcons from the UK and other parts of the world and set-up in the hall so there are no problems with the weather. All of our birds are captive bred and trained, they are not in cages but displayed in traditional falconry style so the children get an idea on size, colouring and markings.
School visits are a great way for children to learn about birds of prey and conservation.
Our talks are entertaining as well as educational and cover many of the topics in the national curriculum including night and day, the food chain, flight, geography, history and science and we are pleased to answer any questions raised. One of the birds can be handled with a special glove provided by a nominated boy and girl from each class.
You are welcome to take photographs or videos to record our visit
